One of my most coveted birds has been white pelicans. I was so excited to get to see them at Klamath Falls last month. I can't believe I haven't processed & posted them!
During the breeding season both males and females develop a 3"x3" inch bump on the top of their beak. This conspicuous growth, which evidently indicates the bird's interest in breeding, is shed by the end of the breeding season. Looks to me like only one of this pair is interested in breeding!
