I try to post an image daily, tho I don't necessarily shoot an image daily. I find it takes a lot of perseverance just to get a shot processed and loaded every day, and the discipline stretches me to continually improve my skills.

Yesterday around sunset we went to the Portland Waterfront for pix of the cherry blossoms. Wow, it was one of those spiritual experiences :-) More to come...

I love the winter irises, particularly their deep purple colors, so don't ask me why I am drawn to this lighter version! Go figure!

I’m trying to learn how to do high-key images. I need to research more, but this is an attempt. I’ve read varying opinions on what is considered high-key. Anybody have an opinion on whether this would qualify?

This is from last year. I am a bit critical of this shot in my own eyes so would love to get some honest feedback on it... I think I've mentioned before how I stepped back from the macro world my first year of photography, to whole flowers the next, to scenes and gardens the next. Thus I'm a bit unsure about composition as I continue to step back :-)

I went mushroom hunting recently, and this was my favorite. I now have a great respect for those who post these pix. I was sore for days from crawling around on the ground! I finally got to really test my new tripod, and I LOVE it! For my birthday I got the Manfrotto 190XPROB, and it's really sweet: the legs lay out almost flat, and the center post pulls out and lays horizontally along the ground.

I love this driveway near our house and can't resist shooting it every year. It's best viewed XLarge :-)

Ohhhh, is there anything more thrilling than the buds popping out of their little fuzzy cocoons?! These are a month earlier than my posts last year. What a strange year for us in SW Washington! We have about the same weather as Vancouver, BC has had.

The first tulips I've seen this year -- hooray! They were in an ugly place, so I had to put them on black, which took me about an hour and a half :-{

I think the tree blossoms have to be among my most fave of all spring flowers. I love when the trees go crazy! I can never remember which trees are which. Maybe you can remind me which these are :-)

We're spinning headlong into spring flowers in our area -- woohoo!! These winter iris are some of the sweetest little things, and if you blink you miss 'em!

synapped > Have You Ever Seen a Snowdrop?

I mean really seen one? It's amazing what a new appreciation I've gained for flowers since really looking at them from all angles thru a lens... These have become one of my all-time favorites, and I don't think I'd ever noticed one before I started photography!

synapped > From the Other Side

The final chapter in the saga of my Saturday Adventure. After getting up early (totally against my personal creed!) for the sunrise at the top of Mt. Hood I drove down the other side of the mountain into Hood River and hung out to get the sunset from the other side. I had lots of time to wander around and found this lovely little snow-covered pond with an amazing view of her. I got another almost colorless sunset, but it was still beautiful.

This was a remote location, and I must admit to being a bit spooked, since I had just taken (as a court reporter) the testimony of the son in this case that's all the news around here right now, as the son has decided to testify against his father in the trial that begins jury selection today!
synapped > The Summit

I woke up early yesterday and decided to pop up and drive the 1-1/2 hours to Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood for sunrise! I didn't get a very good show -- had to actually add a bit of red filter to get this much color out of the shot. But it was still beautiful! This is actually most of the way up the mountain where the ski lodge is, so we only see the summit of the mountain above us.

Ridgefield wildlife refuge isn't exactly a beautiful place most of the time, but every now & then the "stars align" to produce a thing of beauty.
